A Soupy Day

We've been in Paris for a week now, and despite our best efforts, it has still kept a rather wintry face turned towards us.  Considering the cold, we decided that despite the small size of our kitchen the morning at least would be good for soup-making.  Thus, before lunch we made lentil soup, caught up on washing and did some transcription work.

Later we went out for several hours taking the Metro line 12 to the beautiful Church of the Madeleine.

The Madelaine
This is not only a wonderful sight, it is a place where concerts are held and is used for a variety of different events.  Of course, right across the street is Fauchon's and although we were terribly brave and avoided the temptations of their marvelous chocolates, we stood like small children with our noses pressed up against the glass to admire their displays.

Eating out despite the cold
Despite the cold, people enjoy sitting outside of the many cafés and watching the world go by.

After walking around the Madeleine, we strolled along one of the beautiful boulevards until we reached a stop where we caught a bus to Notre Dame and admired the graceful gothic lady before walking over to the Boulevard San Michel.

The bus ride takes one along the banks of the Seine and through some of the most iconic scenery in Paris.  Eventually we caught another bus which took us back home in time to heat up our soup for dinner.
